In 2007 the funding cuts for SREL created a dire situation. In 2008 the situation stabilized, with programs and staff greatly reduced but still in existence. Entering 2009, SREL is beginning to rebuild. Recent support from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the Area Completion Projects group of the Savannah River Nuclear Solutions LLC (SRNS) provides encouragement that regrowth will be successful.
